Why I Built This
I spent almost 20 years as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, rescue diver, and captain of the surf rescue boat on the Maine coast. The hardest moments weren't the emergencies themselves. They were when we reached someone who couldn't tell us what they needed — no emergency contacts, no medical information, no way to reach the people who loved them.
One day my dad gave me a shoebox of old photos. I found a sepia-toned picture of a gentleman — very dapper. On the back, it just said "Uncle Joe." I would have liked to have known Uncle Joe. I had no idea who he was.
I have nine kids and soon to be six grandchildren. I started building systems to make sure the Uncle Joes of the future don't have to be strangers — and that the information that matters most follows the people it belongs to, protected by the same governance infrastructure I've spent my career building.
